SOME STEPFAMILY STATISTICS The divorce rate is higher for second marriages, and even higher for those including children. Most divorced people remarry, and most remarriages involve children. More than half of all Americans today have been, are now, or will eventually be in one or more stepsituations during their lives. 1300 new stepfamilies are forming each day in America . These families fail 2 out of 3 times. Most people entering a remarriage with children have not educated themselves about life in a stepfamily. There are predictable stages most stepfamilies go through. These stages on average take 5-7 years to move through. While these facts can be frustrating, the odds are better when stepparents have accurate information & expectations. Help is available. |
